A 24-year-old delivery worker was fatally stabbed during a drunken dispute over money late Friday night in the Vikaspuri locality of south-west Delhi, according to police reports. The victim, identified as Ashish Verma from Bhudela village, was attacked around 12:20 AM following an argument with two neighbors.
His father, Ramsurat Verma, promptly alerted the authorities after the incident. Ashish was taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. Medical records indicate that he suffered a severe stab wound on the left side of his chest, and his body has been placed in the mortuary pending an autopsy.
A crime investigation team examined the scene of the attack. Police have identified the assailants as Bhajan Lal (32) and Rakesh (30), both residents of Deepak Vihar, Nilothi Extension. Ashish's mother claimed that the two men, who were intoxicated, stabbed her son during a heated argument regarding a financial matter. Both suspects have been arrested.
Authorities have filed a case under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, and investigations are ongoing. Earlier, the Delhi Police Control Room received a report from Shivam Sharma at 10:53 PM on Tuesday, alleging gunfire near the Taj enclave in Geeta Colony, which was communicated to the police.
Shivam, a resident of Old Arjun Nagar, Jagat Puri, reported that Sheetal and her husband, Sonu, from Kundan Nagar, had borrowed money and failed to repay it. On Tuesday night, Shivam and his friend Jatin Nagpal confronted Sheetal and Sonu about the debt, leading to a heated exchange near Jagatpuri Red Light.
During this confrontation, associates of Sheetal and Sonu, identified as Shadab, Harshu, and Raman, arrived at the scene, resulting in a physical altercation. Allegedly, Shadab fired two shots at Shivam, who managed to evade injury and subsequently reported the incident to the police. Notably, Shivam Sharma has a prior involvement in a case under Section 307 IPC for attempted murder. The Delhi Police confirmed that appropriate measures are being taken regarding this matter.
